1st Valley of Words (VoW)

Valley of Words (VoW), The International Festival of Literature and Arts, was held by The Shivalik Hills Foundation Trust from 17th – 19th November 2017 at Madhuban Hotel, Dehradun. The three-day event took place at Hotel Madhuban on Rajpur Road in Dehradun, ensconced in the scenic Doon Valley on the foothills of the Himalayan hill state of Uttarakhand. The entry to the festival was marked open and free for the public, offering access and engagement with a galaxy of ideas and their authors.

The first edition of VoW was carefully curated across Four Knowledge verticals of English (Fiction and Nonfiction), Hindi (Fiction and Contemporary Affairs), Military History and Strategy Platform and RS Tolia Forum (Issues on Mountain Development and Ecology). Each of these verticals was allocated four separate venues. The respective events varied from book readings and launches, poetry and storytelling formats, solo lectures and panel discussions- each engaging in a diverse set of themes across curated sessions.
