Sustainable Development Forum Uttaranchal (SDFU) in support of The Nainital Bank organized a consultative workshop on “Ecosystem Based Approaches for Climate Change Mitigation and Sustainable Food Production in Western Himalaya” today 11 August 23.
The above workshop was organized at SARG Training Centre, Tok Sadi, Ramgarh, Nainital, and brought together multiple stakeholders involved in climate change mitigation and natural climate solutions pathways and baseline assessments of carbon sequestration through participatory approaches. The group comprised of scientists, members of civil society practitioners and members from community. The workshop aimed to facilitate dialogue among stakeholders to discuss the issues of climate change and agro ecosystems especially in the western Himalayan region. The workshop was divided into five sessions where in the issues agro - eco systems and climate change, carbon credits and other Natural climate Solutions with community participation.
The workshop was attended by Dr. Kapil K Joshi (APPCF, Environment, Uttarakhand), Dr JC Kuniyal (Scientist G, GBPNIHE), Sri SV Sharma (JICA Project), Sri STS Lepcha ( retd PCCF, Uttarakhand ) , Dr GS Rawat ( retd Director WII) , Dr Rajesh Thadani (CEDAR), Dr. Vishal Singh (CEDAR), Dr. Rajendra Koshyari (Himmotthan), Dr. Badrish Mehra (CEO, CHIRAG) and Ms. Binita Shah ( SDFU) , Sri Akhilesh Singh ( GIZ) and Dr Vinod Pande (Ex- Forest Officer). Local community representativies from the Van Panchayat Sadbunga, Supi , Chukhuta were also present.
